A Message For Mary Kay Cosmetics’ Sales Force: ‘Physical Wealth Makes It Easy To Forget Spritual Poverty’

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. — 1 Timothy 6:10

Since the dawn of marketing, companies have used well-crafted lines to lure customers into buying their products or services. With Mary Kay Cosmetics, however, it is a little different.

Unlike most companies, as a multi-level-marketing company, Mary Kay takes its recruiting tactics much further. Unlike most companies, Mary Kay uses religion and individual’s affections toward their families as means of recruiting people into the company.

If you are a Mary Kay sales person, have you ever used the company’s “priorities” of “God first, Family second and Career third?” If you have, ask yourself: Is that your your life within Mary Kay? Or, has Mary Kay become the first priority in your life?

You see, it’s easy to say a line and, if you repeat it often enough, they (and you) might actually believe it. However, is it true?

More importantly, have you let your belief in Mary Kay cloud what is really said in the Bible that so many in Mary Kay’s sales force like to quote so often?

While not mentioning Mary Kay Cosmetics at all in this video, Pastor Rick Henderson covers what is Biblically wrong with what is known as the Prosperity Doctrine. For those who follow this doctrine–and there are many within Mary Kay’s sales force–they may find how they are causing more harm than good–not just to their victims, but themselves.

If you are a Mary Kay salesperson or recruiter and think you are living a Biblically-based life within Mary Kay Cosmetics, you need to watch this video then ask yourself some tough questions.

Here are just a few:

  • If you have lied (either by commission or omission) to potential customers, your friends, families or other loved ones about Mary Kay Cosmetics, ask yourself why??
  • If you are always chasing the next recruit, chasing the next level, trying to make the next month’s quota, ask yourself why?
  • If you have put getting the awards, placing Mary Kay above your family or your God, ask yourself why?
  • If you have been using your church as a place to recruit, are you not turning a house of prayer into a den of thieves?
  • If you have caused individuals to forsake their families, to put themselves into debt, to cause harm to themselves to make your production, ask yourself why?

  • Then, ask youself, which master are you serving? Whose teachings are you really following?

Again, this pastor does not mention Mary Kay Cosmetics or its predatory tactics at all.

However, if you are a Mary Kay consultant, or above, after you watch this video, you might want to check the foundation upon which you are focusing your life.
